Work Days: Full-Time, M-F, August - June*

*Please note that you will need to attend training in Hillsdale, MI, for up to 10 days in June. Travel to the conference, lodging, and food will be covered by ACACS and Hillsdale

Wage Range: $45,000 to $55,000 annually

Ascent Classical Academies are dedicated to the intellectual and moral betterment of students and encourage teachers to take their own moral and intellectual improvement seriously as part of a supportive and excellence-driven culture. At Ascent Classical Academy charter schools, well-educated and articulate faculty utilize explicit instruction to convey real knowledge to students using traditional teaching methods. Teachers enjoy a wide array of resources as they create their own lessons within the content-rich curriculum to engage students in a positive and virtue-imbued learning experience in the liberal arts.

We are looking for a full-time Special Education Teacher/Case Manager to educate, supervise, and nurture a strong school culture and promote an American Classical Education for all our students. The school needs a skilled special education teacher who plays a critical role in maintaining compliance and best practices according to federal and state mandates. This position collaborates closely with the Dean of Student Services in setting priorities in support of our mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain special education caseload with compliant timelines and best practice
  • Supervise program paraprofessionals
  • Complete special education evaluations and collaborate on eligibility decisions
  • Provide research-based intervention to students with learning disabilities
  • Work collaboratively to design IEPs that support academic growth and positive social interactions for learning, which promote educational access
  • Provide services consistent with Ascent Classical Academies' content-rich curriculum
  • Engage in effective communication with parents and teachers
  • Compliant maintenance of confidentiality with records and communications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Current Colorado licensure with the appropriate Special Education endorsement
  • Experience with both pull-out and push-in modalities for service delivery preferred
  • Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado
  • Knowledge of classical education (or the willingness and desire to learn)
  • Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, superior organization, and computer skills
  • Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Willingness to complete other related duties as requested
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • After an offer is accepted, a satisfactory background check as required by state law and Colorado Department of Education

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height by bending or leaning in order to teach each child
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing
  • Must be able to supervise outdoor

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group (MEG) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS. Through this partnership, MEG provides employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services, and access to a 401(k) plan. For naming purposes, Minga Education Group is the employer.
