The director of grant funding plays a crucial role in securing funds essential to support our organization's mission and operations. Reporting to the senior director of operations, the director of grant funding is responsible for implementing a comprehensive annual grant funding strategy that focuses on government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other grant funding sources.

Accountabilities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership, board members, and other key stakeholders to align grant funding strategies with organizational priorities and sustainability goals.
  • Oversee the organization's grant acquisition process, including prospect research, proposal development, submission, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with ministry staff, finance team, and other stakeholders to develop competitive grant proposals and budgets.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to monitor and track grant expenditures, activities, and outcomes.
  • Maintain agency grant tracking system. Ensure all grant records are retained as outlined in agency policy and/or funder requirements. Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, regulations, and reporting deadlines set forth by funding agencies and grant agreements.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to staff, grantees, and partners on grant compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's strategic plan, goals, and objectives related to grant funding.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant management or a related field, preferably in a nonprofit or social services organization.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Demonstrated expertise in grant writing, budgeting, and reporting, with a track record of securing and managing grants from government agencies, foundations, and other sources.
    • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations governing grants, contracts, and nonprofit organizations.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Exposures
    • Controlled inside work environment with noise/vibrations from general office equipment.
    • Minimal exposure to fumes/odors. Requires extensive work using a computer.

Physical Demands
  • Work Type: Light, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Climbing/Balancing/Freedom to Move: Minimal required to move about office. Sit about 75 percent of time.
  • Stooping/Bending: Frequently.
  • Reaching: Occasional, overhead as well as horizontal and down. Vision: Adequate to perform essential functions.
  • Color vision: No particular color vision requirement.
  • Hearing: Frequently perceive nature of sounds by ear.
  • Speech: Frequently express ideas by means of spoken words.
  • Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently operates equipment requiring moderate ability.
