Job Description

Basic Purpose and Scope:

The Truck Driver is responsible for over-the-road transport of Litehouse products to assigned destinations and pickup and delivery of other products

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Transporting finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers - 80%
  2. Inspecting vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance - 10%
  3. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions. Assist workers in loading and unloading truck - 10%
  4. Document and log work/rest periods according to DOT regulations - Ongoing
  5. Report defects, accidents or violations - Ongoing
  6. Responsibility to adhere to Food Safety policies and report food safety and quality concerns to their supervisor - Ongoing
  7. Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional and courteous relationships with all internal and external customers - Ongoing
  8. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures - Ongoing
  9. Other activities and duties as assigned - Ongoing

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO PERFORM WORK:

  1. Education: Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, trucking school diploma preferred
  2. Certifications: Possess and maintain Class "A" CDL and current DOT medical certification
  3. Experience: Six months to one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules. Operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  5. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  6. Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  7. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  8. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  9. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  10. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  11. Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas effectively and efficiently
  12. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  13. Ability to establish & maintain effective working relationships with all contacts inside and outside of the company
  14. Ability to meet attendance requirements

Travel Requirements:

  1. Travel up to 95% of the time should be expected
