Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Supervisor of Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care (STFC) is primarily responsible for the delivery of effective therapeutic services to children enrolled in the STFC program. The position works with the Senior Director of Placement and Licensing and Director of Therapeutic Foster care to admit children to the STFC program, provide supervision and guidance to the therapists, and train prospective STFC foster parents. Ensures CHN services align with Trauma Informed Care, and participates in CHN’s performance and quality improvement efforts. The Director is responsible for establishing a positive, trauma sensitive, nurturing and healing culture youth and families served.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises a team of Therapists to ensure appropriate trauma informed therapeutic services are provided and establishes a standard of quality for documentation and treatment for youth.
  2. Provides clinical supervision to the STFC therapists.
  3. Provide training to prospective STFC families on trauma informed care and therapeutic approaches to interactions utilizing the approved STFC curriculum.
  4. Complete Medicaid authorizations and re-authorizations for youth enrolled in the STFC program and monitor authorizations to ensure maximum utilization.
  5. Works with the Director of Therapeutic Foster care as well as placement and licensing staff to identify appropriate youth who may be served by families within the STFC program and assist placement and licensing with coordinating with the families.
  6. Completes initial Behavioral Health Status Exam for all new youth enrolled in the STFC program within 72hrs of admission.
  7. Coordinates psychiatric care with the CHN’s Residential Program nurse to ensure that all youth in the STFC program are seen as needed for medication management.
  8. Provides crisis and behavioral intervention and prevention, such as assessments for Baker Acts, abuse hotline calls, and assistance with Child Protective Investigators. Ensures staff is trained and compliant with Mandated Reporting requirements.
  9. Establishes CHN as an excellent partner with case management and CBC organizations by actively participating in court reviews, staffing and other case related meetings, demonstrating expertise and providing comprehensive and knowledgeable information about the child.
  10. Represents CHN at external meetings including but not limited to: ad hoc community groups, lead agency, funder, trade organization(s), statewide and judicial meetings.
  11. Participate in multi-disciplinary reviews, and represent CHN as needed in court. Demonstrate professionalism, advocacy and a thorough knowledge of STFC youth and represent CHN favorably through these efforts.
  12. Clinical Supervisor is available to therapists for crisis situations after hours and on weekends.
  13. Clinical Supervisor may be required to carry a caseload and see clients as needed.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with two (2) years progressively responsible experience in a therapeutic setting or eligible for licensure within the next 90-180 days. Qualified supervisor for LCSW, LMHC, LMFT a plus.

Licenses &Certifications:

  • Active FL licensure as an LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense or license suspension.
  • Must be insurable under CHN’s current auto insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.

Annual Training Requirements: The following training topics are required annually: Sexual Harassment, Blood-born Pathogens, Workplace Accident Prevention and Reporting, Confidentiality and Privacy Practices, Diversity/Cultural Competency, Child Abuse and Neglect Mandated Reporter Statutes and Methods, Prevention of Violence in the Workplace, OSHA–related training, Crisis Prevention, and Program Goals. Maintenance of Child Welfare Certification is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Department of Children and Families rules and regulations regarding the care of children and the specific regulations around foster care and placement.
  • High level of expertise in clinical interventions treatment methods, strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of child abuse or neglect reporting procedures and methods.
  • Ability to work as a multi-disciplinary team member in a positive productive manner.
  • Knowledge of community based services and interventions that serve the needs of foster children including but not limited to behavior and mental health services that address developmental, trauma, medical and other special needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Possess effective interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of quality documentation as required by agency standards, rules, regulations, and Medicaid.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, treatment evaluations, counseling in group and individual sessions, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
  • Skilled in providing leadership, training and support to other team members.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Visual: ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, read printed materials, and make observations of physical facilities.
  • Hearing: ability to understand and comprehend spoken dialogue in individual and group settings.
  • Frequent use of hands.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

• Works indoors in an office environment.

  • Spends periods of time in transit using personal vehicle.
  • Works within residential providers and foster family homes.
  • High interaction with children and families.
  • Moderate level of potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens
