Job Description
Job Purpose: The coach shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian athletes to the praise and glory of God.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
  • Works with cheerleaders during practices and assesses skills and assigns team positions.
  • Creates choreography, teaches cheer routines using proper cheer techniques, demonstrates and teaches safe stunting techniques, teaches proper and safe stretching, strengthening and jumping techniques.
  • Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
  • Recruit within school, train, and coach the members of the cheerleading program.
  • Schedules facilities for practices and competition.
  • Supervises the Secondary school cheer squads.
  • Attends all middle school and high school football games and coaches cheer squad.
  • Maintain and secure all cheerleading equipment.
  • Hold a parents/guardians meeting with all student athletes’ parents/guardians before the first official practice.
  • Attends over-night cheer camp for the squads with the assistant cheer coaches.
  • Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  • Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Observes cheerleaders, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and always provides proper supervision of students following the safe environment requirements.
  • Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their student.
  • Follows state, regional, and district regulations governing the program.
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards cheerleaders, officials, and spectators.
  • Acts as a team representative and promotes the cheerleading program.
  • Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
  • Develops a policy for awards and submits a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participates in special activities to include open house, banquets, award nights, pep rallies, parades, and assemblies.
  • Maintains eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related records.
  • Admin tasks includes collecting cheer fees, sizing uniforms, administering cheer items to squad.
  • Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal, or Athletic Director
  • Represent CCS and the cheerleading program in a professional manner.
  • The Head Cheer Coach is required to abide by CCS rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, balancing, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, and climbing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to environmental conditions. Activities occur both inside and outside. The employee in this position will be subject to ambient noise causing the employee to shout to be heard above the noise level.

*This position is a contract position for Cheer Coach for spring and summer and will evolve into Full-Time Teacher/Cheer Coach for 24/25 academic school year.
