Salary:

Position -  Manager of Student Billing

Position Summary:

The Manager of Student Billing primarily focuses on managing student billing, providing exceptional customer service to students and their families, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures regarding student financial matters. The Manager of Student Billing is responsible for overseeing billing and third party related to student accounts, as well as assisting students with inquiries and concerns regarding their financial obligations to the university.


Responsibilities:

Manage student accounts:

  • Ensure accurate and timely billing of all student charges.
  • Generate and distribute billing statements to students and families.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and process student account refunds in accordance with Title IV regulations, federal and state law, and University policy.
  • Manage third-party billings for payment by government entities, employers, and other outside organizations.
  • Maintain and update billing tables in the University’s financial system
  • Support the university's student accounts department with assisting students and their families with inquiries related to their accounts.
  • Coordinate with other university departments to update student account information as needed (e.g., changes in enrollment status, financial aid disbursements).
  • Assist with the timely generation of student 1098-T statements and the annual filing with the IRS
  • Develop and documents procedures and policies in the student billing functions 


Provide customer service:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for students and families regarding financial matters.
  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits regarding student accounts, billing statements, payment, and financial holds. 


Ensure compliance:

  • Adhere to university policies and procedures related to student financial accounts.
  • Utilize discretion in the enforcement and application of University policies, including, but not limited to, holds, policy exceptions, drops, withdrawals, and appeals
  • Collaborate with the Financial Aid Office and other relevant departments to ensure accurate billing and disbursement of financial aid funds.  


Assist with financial reporting: 

  • Generate reports related to student accounts receivable, payment trends, and collection activities.
  • Collaborate with the Account Receivable Manager to analyze financial data and identify areas for improvement in billing and collection processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in student accounts management, financial services, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with financial management software preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to student financial aid and billing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multilingual skills highly preferred.
