Custodian

Reports To: Supervisor and Project Manager

Position Location: Oakland Federal Building-Oakland, CA

Workdays/Time: Monday-Friday, 5:30 am-1:30 pm, Occasional evening/weekend hours

Hourly Wage: $18.41 per hour plus benefits

Qualifications:

• Must have a disability documented in writing by a physician licensed in the State of California as credentialed to diagnose and capable of diagnosing the specific disability, or a written certification of disability by a California State rehabilitation agency.
• Must pass a government security clearance upon application as well as subsequent criminal background checks and not be subject to revocation of facility access during the term of employment. Must possess a valid California Driver’s license for the duration of employment.

Duties:

Perform janitorial duties, consistent with contract requirements, of vacuuming, general office, restroom cleaning, and floor care. Typical duties may include sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, dusting, polishing furniture, removing trash, restocking supplies, cleaning restrooms, scrubbing and polishing floors, and operating mechanical cleaning equipment. Maintain a safe work environment. Ability to handle “backpack” vacuum cleaners and other mechanical cleaning equipment, such as rotary floor machines and carpet extractors. Ability to maneuver in restricted spaces. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and to twist, bend, push, pull, and stoop. Ability to stand and walk for long periods. Position may also require working outside, in inclement weather conditions. Outside tasks will require the use of a mop, scrubbing brush, leaf blower, wiping down benches, trash receptacles, handrails, and marble. as well as collecting trash and replacing it with liners. Basic knowledge of cleaning products and tools. Time management and multitasking abilities. Organization skills and ability to work with minimal Supervision and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Training:

Comprehensive training is provided to all workers. A valid Real California Driver’s license is required for the duration of employment. This is a federal installation requiring governmental clearance to access and continue working at the job site.

Location:

Work will be performed in Oakland, California. Be able to work occasional weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.
