Role Summary:

School House is looking for an accomplished Senior Industrial Designer to join with 5+ years experience within the Beauty product and packaging sector. Our ideal candidate has a passion for design in all its forms, impeccable taste, and a compelling skill set, including an extraordinary sense of aesthetics concept development, strong sketching abilities, strong 3D modeling for prototyping and production, 3D rendering for presentation purposes, an understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes, with a strong stance on sustainability. We are looking for a designer to ideate, create, and lead multi-scale packaging design projects in collaboration with our studios multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will be involved in all stages of the creative process, from strategy and concept development to execution and production.

Responsibilities:

• Hands-on to cascade brand identity, look-and-feel, into a consistent visual approach for packaging design (primary components and secondary cartons) across a broad range of product families for stock and custom components
• Create rendered 3D components, including form, materiality, and apply 2D deco /artwork
• Ability to concept and model 3D custom packaging as required
• Ensure packaging maintains design aesthetic and provides consumer appeal while incorporating all needed information on pack, including copy, regulatory information and symbols as required
• Develop stock componentry briefs aligned with creative direction along with client requirements
• Ability to source/select vendors and lead vendor communications and partnerships
• Strong understanding of recommended packaging best practices, materials, and sustainability
• Create and own client-facing packaging presentations
• Work closely with Art Directors in creating packaging guidelines for client hand-off
• Partner with Art Director to review and provide feedback for print-ready mechanicals
• Awareness of competitive landscape and trends
• Demonstrate a strong user-centered design process with the ability to quickly generate iterative concepts
• Maintain a clear understanding of project objectives from ideation to completion
• Be autonomous in time and project management
• Can prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Maintain consistent and open communication with the internal team, clients, and external contractors on project status and needs
• Contribute to the collaborative and supportive culture of School House

Requirements

Qualifications:

3 5+ years in beauty product and packaging design

Self-starter and independent-minded

• Have openness and a desire to learn and grow
• Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude

Ability to learn and thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in 3D design software: knowledge of Rhinoceros is required
• Proficiency in rendering software: knowledge of Keyshot is encouraged
• Ensure high standards and quality assurance across all work produced so that it is cohesive, consistent, and brand-aligned
• A constant evaluation of internal processes to identify and recommend improvements
• Personal interest in beauty, wellness, and lifestyle
