Job Description

Turner Industries Group is looking for Quality Control with CWI Certification for full-time maintenance work in Salt Lake City, UT.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
  • 40 Hours, Overtime as needed
  • CWI required
  • Start date TBD
  • Benefits include: Medical/Dental/401K/ Vacation & Holiday
  • Per diem and relocation are not available for this position



General Job Description:

Exercises independent judgment; works under Quality Director; directs supervisors and a group of employees in all production areas


Functional Requirements:

Read and sign off on JSA; basic computer skills required; inspects work to ensure adherence to company standards; trains and assists workers in performance of their duties; supervises and coordinates activities of assigned workers; interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations; analyzes and resolves work related problems; ensures job site materials and equipment are in good condition; may maintain time, production and other records; may study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job and maintains a clean and safe work environment at all times


Qualification Standards:

  • Have minimum of 5 years of experience as a Class "A" Quality Control Inspector
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Quality Control Supervisor
  • Have a current CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification or has previously held CWI certification
  • Familiar with ASME and API Codes
  • Have the ability to write welding and operating procedures
  • Have the ability to perform all required NDE(with the exception of UT)
  • Have the ability to schedule work activities and to coordinate with other departments
  • Have the ability to conduct Pre-Fabrication Meetings and respond to questions from clients
  • Have writing/reporting skills commiserate with job title
  • Pre-employment qualification test if applicable
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87)
  • Job site orientation
  • Job site "Personal Protective Equipment" requirements (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt gloves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the work place

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction


Mental Involvement:

May be required to do the following: follow set procedures and standards; follow oral/or written directions; knowledge of federal, state and company standards and regulations; ability to read and write; ability to recognize and report safety hazards etc.; interpret written plans and blueprints; applying basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; ability to communicate with others effectively; ability to work in a team and get along with others; ability to learn new tasks; remember processes, maintain focus, and complete tasks; ability to remain calm under pressure; manage time and expectations across multiple projects; ensure that work is done in a consistent manner and in compliance with directions



Work Environment Factors:

  • Location: industrial maintenance and construction sites and/or office environment
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas
  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain, etc.; various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
