Description:

Generally, the Quality Inspector II inspects general machining operations during the production sequence to ensure conformance of all parts with the customer specifications and within AS9100D certification standards.


Essential Functions:

· Prepares, reviews, and submits pertinent Quality documentation for shipments, source inspection, and other customer document requirements.

· Inspects parts before, during, and after production.

· Reviews GD&T blueprints, engineering specifications, and job orders for production specifications.

· Measures the layout and physical dimensions of machined parts, castings, jigs, fixtures, and templates for, but not limited to: length, height, inside diameter, outside diameter, concentricity, angle, arc, and radii, using combinations of aids and precision measuring instruments.

· Responsible for approval of machine set-up and the verification of the conformance of first-run production work pieces to customer’s specifications.

· Spot checks or randomly audits machined parts during each specific production sequence.

· Initiates nonconformance reporting when necessary.

· May certify product through Certification of Compliance when required.

· Monitors plant for correct procedures relating to Quality control.

· May create, revise, or finalize Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures.

· Responsible for stopping production if a part or process problem is identified and notifying Manager.

· Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area in accordance with 6S and other organizational standards implemented by the Company.

· Responsible for mentoring and/or training of other personnel as assigned.

· Responsible for identification and elimination of any unnecessary waste.

· Participates in corrective and preventative activities as required.

· Responsible to properly clock in and out of M2M/Shop Floor Manager for payroll purposes and review labor/time records for accuracy.

· Remains productive by seeking out tasks and assisting others when slow or idle.

· Maintains open communication and works with other departments as required or necessary.

· Participates in and supports the Company Quality System and all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

· Responsible to participate in continuous improvement and associated training.

· Responsible to adhere to the Company Quality Policy and to understand and follow all applicable Quality Work Instructions, Policies, and Procedures.

Requirements:

Education, Skills & Abilities:

· High School graduate with course of study emphasis on math and trigonometry.

· GD&T Certification required.

· 5-years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment with emphasis on Quality Control.

· Operating knowledge of CMM, visual CMM, and various other measuring equipment.

· Able to create a standard Inspection Report as well as First Article Inspection Report.

· Technical knowledge of parts.

· Blueprint reading skills.

· Knowledge of Quality systems as they relate to ISO 9001 & AS9100.

· Experience performing setups/layouts and first article inspections.

· PC-DIMIS experience is a plus.

· Ability to communicate effectively (both written & verbal).

· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office programs, Quality Control software program, web-based software, and web browsing.

· High attention to detail.

· Ability to use good judgment to discern product quality.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Ability to work with multiple deadlines and commitments with little or no supervision; strong time management skills.

· A team player, willing to take on extra tasks as necessary and create/maintain healthy working relationships.
