Laboratory

Position:

Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is looking to hire a part-time Laboratory Technician to join our team.  We are a busy specialty and emergency hospital which is built around a collaborative culture.  We believe in practicing both the science and the art of veterinary medicine in an environment that fosters out of the box thinking, collaboration, and communication among each other and the outside world and having fun while doing so.

The ideal candidate will be able to support all laboratory needs of a fast paced hospital as well as: 

Receive internal and external laboratory requests and obtain/process samples in a timely fashion (fecal ova and parasite, hematology, urinalysis, dermatology and otic samples).  Maintain an organized and sanitized laboratory work environment, and restock supplies according to inventory standards.  Process incoming samples to be moved forward for testing.  Submit requests to various outside diagnostic laboratories and ensuring samples are received.  Maintain laboratory samples placed on hold.  Practice and uphold established procedures concerning quality assurance to ensure all lab work is processed both accurately and precisely.  Enter data to maintain laboratory files, charge system, and inventory.  Communicate with third-party laboratory representatives to resolve issues and discrepancies.  Report all issues with laboratory equipment to the Lead Laboratory Technician for servicing.  

Skills/Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital or a veterinary medical laboratory.
• Competency in Abaxis, IDEXX, and/or Heska diagnostic equipment preferred, but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Organized with excellent time management skills
• Collaborative and team oriented
• Familiarity with medical software and medical record-keeping

Part-time

Flexible work schedule (ability to work nights and weekends)
