Designer Job Summary:

Responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components for a variety of products. The Mechanical Designer will work closely with other members of the team to ensure that products are reliable, efficient, and meet customer specifications.

Designer Qualifications:

• Must be extremely well organized and detail oriented along with exposure to office and manufacturing environments.
• Customer-focused attitude and the ability to maintain confidentiality in the handling of corporate information.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must display a level of mechanical aptitude in conceptual design and discussion of design projects.

Designer Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems, including Bill of Materials, 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings, using CAD software.
• Work with manufacturing, assembly, and quality teams to ensure that designs meet quality standards and are producible at scale.
• Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on feasibility, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness of products and designs. , and cost improvements to improve the position of the company.
• Interfaces and collaborates with other teams in the organization and customers to jointly determine customer needs and solutions.
• Participate in design reviews and provide input and feedback on the design process and progress.
• Plans and develops test programs for prototypes using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
• Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
• Analyzes, evaluates, sources, and assists in coordinating the procurement of new materials to support model changes.
• Maintain accurate records of design specifications, test results, and other relevant data.
• Performs technical analysis of competitive products.
• Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support.
• Other duties as needed and assigned.

Designer Skills and Experience:

• Preferred Minimum of (5) years of product design experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) and other design tools
• Knowledge of basic metrology hand tools is desired.
• Experienced with Machine Shop and Mechanical Assembly experience highly desired.
• Familiarity with basic machine tools: lathes, grinders, mills, presses, EDM’s.
• Familiarity with basic machine components: levers, linkages, bearings, shafts, springs, screw threads, and complex mechanisms.
• Familiarity with material and mechanical properties of common metals, alloys, and industrial polymers.
• Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
