The Tooling Designer will work with multiple internal and external customers to create injection tooling designs that facilitate the construction, upfitting or repair of injection mold tooling. The role will support the Departments efforts with timely designs that meet customer specifications and shop floor needs. The Tooling Designer will support quoting activities and manage the data associated with the design efforts. This position is onsite in Farmington, MI.
As a Tooling Designer, you will:
  • Create and implement new injection tooling designs into existing tooling to support engineering changes
  • Create and design injection tooling plans to support new construction and repairs to existing tooling
  • Complete Computer Aided Design (CAD) data analysis for feasibility and quoting purposes
  • Organize and manage all data and files for retention, access and reference
  • Work with Program Management to support project planning, quoting and design releases
Minimum qualifications to be considered as a Tooling Designer:
  • Due to U.S. Government program requirements, this position is limited to U.S. citizens
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of injection tool design experience
  • Proficient with design development software, NX Unigraphics
  • Ability to plan, develop and execute design plans for injection tooling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled at organizing and managing design files and project data
  • Ability to work well with multiple internal and external customers

A successful candidate may also have:
  • Associates degree or technical certification in a related field
