A die designer creates drawings and designs for the creation of forging die. In this career, your responsibilities are to utilize CAD software to draft and create blueprints for the forging of the die. Along with the creation of die fabrication plans, your duties are also to understand and utilize forging machines that use your die. You must use single/progressive stage machines, and you must be adept at extrusion forging, stamping, operating presses, and operating any of the machinery that use your die for forging. In some positions, you may work as a tool designer as well. As a die designer, you may work in various industries, such as metal forging or plastics manufacturing.
