Position Responsibilities:

Answering patient questions regarding statements and account balances over the phone and in office
Working the self-pay, lien, liability and bankruptcy queues
Documenting all bankruptcies and identifying them in the computer system
Printing and sending claims to attorneys and other agencies as needed
Running and working monthly reports related to prepays and co-pays
Assisting patients with payment plans and the Compassionate Needs Discount
Providing handouts to patients who are in need of financial assistance
Following up on liability determination and non-sufficient fund checks
Investigating returned mail, identifying correct patient addresses and updating in the computer system
Sending letters to patients, attorneys and insurance companies regarding patient accounts
Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
One year of previous experience in collections, billing and insurance is required
Successful candidate must also be a Certified Medical Coder
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
Knowledge of personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Record
