Position Responsibilities:
ORA Orthopedics is the Quad Cities largest and most comprehensive orthopedic provider, proudly offering an integrated continuum of orthopedic care that includes orthopedic sub-specialty clinics, walk-in care at our Urgent OrthoCARE clinics, diagnostic imaging, bracing, physical therapy, pharmacy and outpatient surgery. Our physicians are sub-specialty trained in sports medicine, adult reconstruction, hand and upper extremity, trauma, spine, pediatrics, and pain management. Position Responsibilities:
- Answering patient questions regarding statements and account balances over the phone and in office
- Working the self-pay, lien, liability and bankruptcy queues
- Documenting all bankruptcies and identifying them in the computer system
- Printing and sending claims to attorneys and other agencies as needed
- Running and working monthly reports related to prepays and co-pays
- Assisting patients with payment plans and the Compassionate Needs Discount
- Providing handouts to patients who are in need of financial assistance
- Following up on liability determination and non-sufficient fund checks
- Investigating returned mail, identifying correct patient addresses and updating in the computer system
- Sending letters to patients, attorneys and insurance companies regarding patient accounts
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations
- Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of previous experience in collections, billing and insurance is required
- Successful candidate must also be a Certified Medical Coder
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Record
