JOB DESCRIPTION

This person will be responsible, honest and ethical as professionalism is the utmost importance to our organization. You must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with clients because this position works inside the owner’s operating facilities. Reliability and timeliness is a must to be a core team member.  As a millwright for McGrath the workplace will be dynamic. This includes installing new machinery, conducting routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing equipment mechanical issues, and performing upgrades and modifications to improve efficiency and reliability. You will work with a variety of tools, equipment, and materials, and may collaborate with other tradespeople and engineering staff to complete projects.

 

You will be reporting to Project Superintendent and will need to take direction from that Team Leader.


This is a full-time position with the expectation of work hours to normally be 40 hours per week during the regular business day, although the workday can be longer depending on the requirements of the project and client needs. Overtime will be paid based on collective bargaining agreement.


RESPONSIBILITIES

 Rig, install, assemble, and align machinery and equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications and blueprints.

  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and parts replacement to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  2. Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes of problems, and implement effective solutions.
  3. Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  4. Conduct precision alignment of shafts, couplings, bearings, and other components to minimize wear and optimize performance.
  5. Fabricate or modify parts as needed using welding, cutting, and machining techniques.
  6. Test machinery to ensure proper operation and safety compliance.
  7. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to plan and execute equipment upgrades, retrofits, and installations.
  8. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and inventory levels.
  9. Adhere to safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
  10. Recognize and communicate any safety hazards on job site.
  11. Must adhere to all OSHA, MSHA McGrath and Customer safety policies.
  12. Ability to perform pre-task job hazard analysis.
  13. Ability to perform pre-task equipment inspections.

  

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERTISE

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit that takes sincere pride in your work.
  • Maintain strong work and personal ethics.
  • Proven experience as a millwright or similar role in an industrial setting
  • Excellent verbal communication.
  • Ability to carry 50 lbs or more.
  • Ability to pass pre-job fit for duty test.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding and navigate construction sites.
  • Activities include walk, kneel, crouch, crawl and dig.
  • Must work safety and follow safety requirements at all times.
  • Ability to work indoors, outdoors and in all elements.
  • Position has possibility to travel to support regional projects.
  • Ability to operate scissors or boom lift.
  • Ability to operate forklifts.
  • High School diploma.
  • OSHA 10 HR Card minimum, OSHA 30 is preferred.
  • Certified Rigging Card is preferred.
