POSITION SUMMARY
• Performs chemical and failure analysis of metallurgical samples.
• Assist and manages projects related to materials evaluation.
• Performs test data processing utilizing MS Word and MS Excel.
• Performs calculations, recording, and verifying of metallographic standards.
• Calibrates and sets-up standardized material/metallographic testing stations.
• Testing metal samples to determine their physical properties.
• Preparing specimens by grinding, polishing, and etching.
• Viewing samples using optical microscopy equipment.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
• High School Diploma
• 3-5 years’ experience in materials testing in a materials lab
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to relate to topics which require an acute understanding or specialized knowledge.
• Ability to pay meticulous attention to all aspects of a situation or task, no matter how small or seemingly unimportant.
• Standing / sitting time ratio is 80/20, respectively.
Central Coatings Laboratory certification and familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies are a plus.
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. We will require proof of status prior to employment.
