MHTN Architects is in search of a junior to mid-level Interior Designer to contribute to conceptualizing and executing designs for projects of varying scales in collaboration with architectural teams. This role involves a breadth of tasks, from supporting larger projects under intermediate and senior interior designers to taking the lead on smaller initiatives alongside architectural team leads. This role assists with entry-level design project work including production, space planning, research, presentation materials (both digital and physical) and administrative tasks ensuring the smooth operation of the design process. Ideal for individuals with a bachelor's degree in interior design, this position offers opportunities for growth and development within the design process. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.

The Interior Designer will engage in diverse tasks including researching interior products, applying established design standards, and implementing sustainable best practices. An individual in this role will augment their existing knowledge of interior design specifications, calculations, and industry standards, collaborate with other interior designers, project architects, and other project team members to create holistic design approaches, and promote socially and environmentally responsible design practices. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the development of design solutions, performing routine checking and verification tasks, and researching and selecting colors, finishes, and materials. Furthermore, they support business development activities by assisting with aids such as finish boards or presentations. This role will have the opportunity to visit projects onsite during construction phases to ensure design specifications are being met and assess items to address and execute before project completion.

The Interior Designer is expected to learn and utilize various tools, including computer-aided drawing and presentation tools, and basic office software. Here is a list of the key skills which we seek for this role:

  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication
  • Highly creative and imaginative
  • Excellent graphic and visualization skills to effectively communicate design concepts.
  • Familiarity with interior design specifications, calculations, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering concepts.
  • Familiarity with building materials and codes, material compatibility and characteristics, construction techniques and costs
  • Familiarity with furniture and furniture systems, vendors and resources, procurement process, and selection of materials palettes.
  • Organized and able to work in a team environment as well as ability to work with some supervision.
  • Experience in integrated branded environments is a plus.
  • A desire to become NCIDQ certified is preferred and supported!

This position is an hourly, overtime non-exempt position. This position is a full-time position, expected to work 40 hours a week. The position pay range of $24/hr. to $28/hr. is based on years of experience and overall proficiency. This position has the ability to work from home up to two days a week but is not a fully remote position.
