Sr. Systems Engineer (HAMMR)

Serve as focal point, liaison, and subject matter expert in support of Helicopters and Multi-Mission Radios (HAMMR) systems engineering networks. Predominantly the systems will align with the Integrated Tactical Network (ITN) project but could align with other PM Tactical Radio efforts. Identify and report problems and discrepancies to the Project Manager (PM) or headquarters functional managers. Recommend solutions to both field units and Product Manager when unable to resolve problems. Manage and document systems configurations, trouble incidents, test procedures, and test execution/results. Oversee and test the initial integration of unit configurations into newly fielded equipment. Exercise technical leadership to obtain agreement on required actions, schedules and the resolution of conflicting points of view concerning support operations and PM TR systems within supported units. Coordinate system development tasks with other program System Engineering leads based on integration challenges and/or new requirements. Provide systems engineering expertise on the development and testing of ITN and other radio systems. Coordinate across the PM TR support teams to obtain concurrence and to implement plans of action to accomplish PM objectives. Attend PdM HAMMR and PM TR meetings. Represent PM TR at planning conferences conducted by the Unit or other organizations. Develop and present briefings as required on the status of Systems Engineering and Network Architecture planning, and/or test efforts within PdM HAMMR. Support network planning, network set up, configuration, troubleshooting and testing as well as teardown. Work closely with unit S6 staff as well as other personnel to coordinate activities.

• Secret or greater DoD security clearance
• Bachelors degree with eight (8) years experience, an additional four (4) years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education
• Able to articulate data travel through all enclaves of the PM TN At the Halt (WIN-T INC 1) On the Move (WIN-T INC2), Transportable Tactical Command Communications (T2C2), and Scalable Class of Unified Terminals (SCOUT).
• Understanding on the operation of routers, firewalls, switches, and network encryption devices.
• Understand QoS in the tactical network.
  • Provides TAK architecture expertise for LTAK, ATAK, and WINTAK.
  • Needs to have experience with TNIC data products. This includes LDIFs, IP spreadsheets, and networking configurations for virtual Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco routers/switches.
  • Understand and have experience with various Mission Command systems.
  • Be familiar with all radios in the PM TR portfolio and their capabilities.
  • Able to develop network architectures using Visio and Microsoft Power Point.
  • Strong time management and coordination skills with abilities to coordinate across multiple PMs in PEO C3T, and with program offices and agencies outside of PEO C3T.

Personal skills:

• Must be able to gain a unit's trust within a very short time.
• Ability to understand the ITN and apply that understanding to how the unit wants to employ ITN is crucial.
• Primarily at O4-O7 officer level in the field providing network expertise. Part of your responsibility is ensuring the units understand how each piece of equipment works and supports their mission.
• Responsible for providing an event summary to the unit and PM. You will need to collect data to develop a slide package that provides the units ITN goals, the architecture that was employed, what support was needed to implement the ITN network, improvement recommendations, and wrap up the units AAR comments.
