Under the direction of the General Studies Department Chair, the ON-GROUND Full-Time Instructor of Computer & Information Literacy will provide on-ground and online instruction for General Education on the Knoxville campus. In addition to teaching within the general education curriculum, this role will support students across the curriculum and programs to develop their computer literacy skills. Course concepts focus on navigating technology basics such as email, the internet, and the Canvas classroom, in addition to learning Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Instructors update course syllabi, develop lesson plans, develop presentation materials, and evaluate students' progress. Instructors are required to ensure the safety and security of their classrooms and effectively use class time. This position will sit at the South College-Lonas Drive Campus in Knoxville, TN.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop instructional materials to facilitate student learning outcomes for the course.

2. Collect all assessment data related to student learning outcomes and support General Education department in improvement initiatives for SCC 1031: Computer & Information Literacy.

3. Effectively use class time by ensuring meaningful learning activities occur for the entire class period.

4. Maintain an equitable system of student evaluation based on sound practices in accordance with the course syllabus.

5. Return all graded assignments in a reasonable time frame according to South College Faculty Expectations.

6. Support students with individualized outreach and attention in an effort to maximize engagement and success.

7. Project an appropriate professional image.

8. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

9. Enforce all South College rules and policies.

10. Provide in-person and virtual support to the local campus and institutional Technology Lab.

11. Minimum of 40-hour work week, which includes on-campus office hours and face-to-face/on-ground classes.

Requirements

Minimum of a master's degree in the field (instructional technology, computer science, etc.).

Demonstrated experience supporting first-year students and a strong understanding of a successful first-year experience.

Prior teaching experience in an online and face-to-face environment.

Proficient in the written and oral communication of the English language.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preference given to individuals able to demonstrate an aptitude for tutoring students in technology related to student success, such as Canvas, One Drive, Word, creating organized file systems, and basic computer troubleshooting.
