Deli Manager at Hero's Welcome

Hero's Welcome seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative self-starter to oversee our popular food service operations. In this role, you'll be the point person for ensuring an exceptional experience for customers by making sure our deli and bakery are firing on all cylinders. Ideal candidates will have the managerial abilities to handling vendor orders and regulatory compliance (health code, etc) and enjoy being hands-on working with staff and customers. This position is offered on a year-round, full time basis.

Primary Responsibilities

• Order supplies for the deli and bakery to ensure they are property stocked to meet demand. Management of inventory & food storage areas to ensure safe food handling and minimal spoilage.
• Ensure that prep tasks are completed in a timely and consistent manner (meat slicing, portioning, defrosting etc).
• Interface directly with customers at the deli counter (take / prep orders) proving exceptional customer service and setting example for other staff members.
• Manage cleaning and maintenance for food service areas to ensure equipment is kept in good, sanitary condition and in full compliance with relevant health codes.
• Develop and enforce norms, standards, and processes for food service areas. Work in collaboration with management team to maintain a culture of excellence, consistency, and high morale across the business.
• Facilitate special orders from customers, such as deli platters or baked goods for events.
• Regularly review menu items for input costs (ingredients, labor, etc), retail pricing, popularity among customers and propose changes as needed.
• Conduct training of new staff in food service areas, follow up with staff when deviations from standard practices are noted.
• Serve as shift leader / manager on duty as needed store-wide.
• Other duties as needed

Qualifications

• Candidates with at least 5 years of food service experience preferred.
• Customer service experience required.
• Flexible scheduling availability, including weekends and summer holidays is required. Typical scheduling expectation is average of 40hrs/ week, to includes at least 50% of weekend days (both days every other weekend, or one weekend day each week), as well as coordination with food ordering cadence.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary of $1,600 paid bi-weekly.
• Discretionary bonus paid annually, based on individual performance and financial performance of the business. Target range of 5-10%.
