Information Security Engineer

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the SVP of IT and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the incumbent is responsible for designing and implementing the cyber security policies in order to reduce the overall risk to the organization. The incumbent will work with the network, infrastructure, and security resource activities to ensure the integrity of the organization’s information systems overall. Works with the SVP of IT to implement strategic objectives, including design recommendations, policy implementation, procedure development, and facilitating any necessary changes to the bank's information systems and infrastructure.

Accountabilities & Measures
Key Accountabilities
1. Model behaviors consistent with A+ Merits to foster an effective culture.
2. Works interactively with vendors to maintain the organization’s information systems and infrastructure and is responsible for assigning/managing associated work (changes, patches, scans, log reviews, threats, etc.) and critical deadlines.
3. Maintains critical awareness of industry threats and assists with maintaining appropriate security layers to mitigate threats.
4. Provides leadership and direction to the IT and IS teams for end user forensic investigations as required.
5. Monitors, tracks, reports, investigates, and mitigates network security configurations and communications as required.
Success Measures
1. Systems and related hardware are maintained in a constant state of readiness and security to protect Bank assets and customers.
2. Quick identification, communication and resolution of breach incidents with minimal to no impact to Bank or customers.
3. Minimal network and infrastructure downtime during business hours.
4. Satisfactory audits reflecting solid policy and procedure practices for areas of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Adheres to the NHMB Values which consist of Fairness and Respect, Honesty and Integrity, Teamwork, Excellence and Stewardship.
2. Establishes and maintains networking environment by implementing hardware and software configurations; directing system installations; defining, documenting, and enforcing system procedures, processes and standards. Sets up, configures, implements, and troubleshoots complex wired and wireless networks that support open or secured access with the ability to support voice and video applications.
3. Assists SVP of IT and department heads in developing, planning, and testing of network and electronic disaster recovery including ensuring backup and disaster recovery systems operate effectively. Manages and ensures network/core communications and replication of server and data to backup site to meet Bank backup and restore capabilities.
4. Maintains thorough understanding of Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, and like platform features, functionality and capabilities of network technologies such as LAN, WAN, Internet, cloud and virtualization.
5. Leads assigned staff to achieve department goals and meet Bank expectations. Provides direction to the SVP-IT, Engineering team, and IT Systems Manager in accordance with the organization's security policies and procedures.
6. Provides hands-on management during crisis situations which may involve complex technical hardware, software, or communication problems.
7. Assist in the design of multi-server (LAN/WAN) environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, EtherChannel, Video, Telephony, imaging, remote access, etc. Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network and application administrators, and making recommendations to the SVP of IT on security optimization.
8. Leads assigned staff and projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives. Secures IT systems and infrastructure by establishing and enforcing policies, processes, and procedures.
9. Provides advanced technical assistance and support as needed in response to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors, etc. in order to resolve operational issues, restore services and/or support project initiatives.
10. Prepares and provides periodic reports and statistics to the SVP of IT regarding assigned staff activities along with system operational status and assigned project completion/progress status.
11. Satisfactorily completes all required compliance training and complies with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position.
12. Performs additional tasks as requested.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards with moderate level of noise. Minimal physical effort required; normally seated with the freedom of movement on a regular basis; handling of light materials, supplies. May have long period of time working at a PC terminal.

DESIRED JOB EXPERIENCE
Six to ten years Network infrastructure implementation of Cisco, Microsoft, and VMware network (LAN/WAN) environments. Ability to configure, troubleshoot and implement; Windows servers and active Directory structure; Cisco routing switching configuration and VLANs, troubleshooting, implementation and support; VMWare virtual server, host, and client configuration, troubleshooting and implementation; Network Security with Router, Firewall, Switch and features such as VPN design, configuration, troubleshooting and implementation; troubleshooting implementation and support; experience communicating to less technical audiences; experienced in a fast pace, deadline driven environment. Other helpful desired experience areas include: Cisco Unified Communication Manager configuration and infrastructure implementation. Windows Server with Exchange and/or SQL experience. Advance knowledge of VMware storage and virtual environment configuration, troubleshooting, and implementation. Network environment integration and consolidation a plus. Cisco Audio and Video configuration, troubleshooting, implementation and support.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to lead assigned staff in accomplishing network and infrastructure administrations, security audits, and various daily or project related activities in a Microsoft, Cisco, and VMWare environment. Extensive knowledge of (LAN/WAN) networking, security, intercommunications, and troubleshooting. Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications to meet business requirements. Experience with banking operations a plus. Experience with systems and applications administrations, with inventory and tracking skills preferred. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organization and prioritization skills with proven ability to deal with shifting and competing priorities while meeting established deadlines. Demonstrated abilities in independent analysis, problem solving, advocating perspectives, initiative, independent work collaboration and consensus building with diverse cross-functional groups. Valid driver's license with ability to travel to company locations as needed.
