Within the Office of Information Technology (OIT), we currently seek a Network Administrator Level 1 to support campus computer networks and voice systems, provide customer support related to network hardware/software issues and questions, and contribute to the overall improvement of networking services for the Twin Cities campus. Responsibilities:
Assist with the implementation and provisioning of network deliverables that adhere to University network standards.
Participates in the review of network policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Supports network service requests such as setting up Work Groups, VLANs, VRF configurations, DNS/DHCP/IP addressing
Assists in routine maintenance tasks for network infrastructure.
Contributes to the creation of technical documentation, knowledge articles, and network diagrams for troubleshooting purposes.
Provides support for incident management, including basic break/fix tasks, log reviews, and basic packet capture analysis.
Acts as a point of contact for basic inquiries and escalates issues to more experienced team members when necessary.
Collaborates with senior engineers on straightforward troubleshooting and escalates issues as needed.
Participates in discussions with senior engineers and product owners to identify potential areas for automation and self-service within network operations.
Assists in administering and optimizing the network management platform for effective monitoring and alerting.
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years.
Basic understanding of network technologies including routers, switches, load balancers, VPN, and IP Address Management platforms.
Developing network troubleshooting skills, including familiarity with log review and basic network traffic analysis using tools such as Wireshark
