Job Summary - The Water Quality Manager, under direction of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, is responsible for the oversight and management of the water quality functions of the Lagoon. The Water Quality Manager makes daily labor and expense decisions, coaches and mentors team members, oversees and approves all training, inspects operations, monitors metrics, and solves problems in the field. Most of the workday is spent in the field. Candidates should expect to be in or around the water every day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the team responsible for the cleanliness of the lagoon water.
- Develops and maintains accurate department procedures and checklists through routine preventative logs.
- Collaborate with all vendors involved in the routine cleaning of the lagoon.
- Maintains a monthly inventory of supplies, equipment, and or products. Orders all lagoon supplies.
- Maintains and repairs lagoon filtration systems, including but not limited to: troubleshooting pumps, filters, circulating system, chemical feeders, sanitation equipment, and providing minor repair and/or replacement as needed.
- Maintains lagoon systems, chemical balance, flow, pressures and sanitation in accordance with manufactures recommendations and/or any local, state, or federal standards and requirements.
- Maintains lagoon cleanliness through daily, weekly, monthly, cleaning schedules including brushing, skimming, vacuuming, automated cleaners, and other needs as required to provide a safe and clean environment for guests.
- Assesses all department employees’ progress continually; coaches employees with positive reinforcement, and disciplines, when necessary, fairly and consistently; participates in annual performance evaluations, and, when necessary, assists in the termination process.
- Maintains licenses and verifies that all employees have current certifications as required.
- Supervising non-water related maintenance projects
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification:
- HS Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor’s degree (or degree seeking) preferred
- Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment
- Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously using appropriate delegation
- Proficient in appropriate computer skills and office equipment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work outside in adverse weather conditions and stand/walk for long periods of time
- Must work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis including lagoon hours and special events. Both weekend days required in busy season.
- Minimum of two years experience in a Water Quality related position.
- Ability to pass water certification course within the first 90 days of employment
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in the lagoon water for long periods of time
- Ability to swim
- Professional manner, discretion, and appearance.
