Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates, P.C. is the largest private Rheumatology practice in the United States. The practice has over 60 providers, 15 sites and over 300 employees providing assessment and treatments for rheumatological, podiatric, and electromyography patients. We are a seeking an ambitious, friendly, positive, and compassionate Radiologic Technologist to join our Radiology Team at our LOCATION.

Our Radiologic technologists perform diagnostic imaging examinations on patients to create images of specific parts of the body. Radiologic technologists who perform medical imaging examinations work closely with radiologists and are responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Prep patient for diagnostic imaging exam.
  • Read doctor's notes as to why exam is being performed.
  • Take medical histories.
  • Produce x-ray films of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems such as cancer or fractures.
  • Have patient undress and remove jewelry.
  • Explain procedure to patient.
  • Ascertain is patient is claustrophobic.
  • Position patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately radiographed.
  • Prepare solutions for patients to drink.
  • Surround the exposed area with radiation protection devices.
  • Position radiographic equipment at the correct angle and height over the appropriate area of a patient's body.
  • Measure the thickness of the section to be radiographed.
  • Adjust controls on the x-ray machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail, and contrast of the body part.
  • Keep patient records.
  • Adjust and maintain equipment.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS


Essential

Attention to Detail: Radiology techs need to follow directions exactly, so that the image is taken correctly.

Interpersonal Skills: Radiology techs work with doctors, nurses and patients who might be in pain or frightened. They also need to work with the patient to move or position them to get the best image. Being a good communicator helps.

Math and Science: Some radiology techs may have to mix chemicals that patients swallow to get a proper image. They also have to know physiology, anatomy, and other sciences to do their job.


Desirable

Stamina: Radiology techs have to work on their feet for long days.


Training

Radiology techs need at least an associate's degree in radiography, but can have a certificate from a certified company or even a bachelor's degree. May require that the program be certified by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Most states require licensure or certification.
