Senior Inventory Accountant

Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Inventory Accountant will prepare and maintain summary and roll-forward schedules of Sales, Purchases, COGS, Inventory levels and Margins by product and location including monitoring activity in the underlying Pharmacy Management System and related Data Bases to ensure that the financial statements are properly stated and appropriate internal controls are in place.

Main Responsibilities

• Reviews and summarizes the monthly inventory reports and the related Purchases and COGS summaries to properly roll-forward balances and expenses as reported in the General Ledger.
• Partners with Supply Chain to identify and resolve issues in inventory counts and valuation.
• Partners with FP&A to summarize results and explain trends and changes in inventory levels, Days on Hand and other indicators.
• Understands the impact of rebates and other discounts and the impact on COGS and inventory.
• Performs variance analysis and prepares related commentary.
• Prepares Journal Entries and reconciles balances reported in the ledger to the summary reports prepared.
• Develops and understands the input and processing of the Pharmacy Management System and Database such that fluctuations in Inventory, COGS , etc are understood and properly accounted for in the General Ledger.
• Prepares analyses in support of the annual audit.
• Mentors, coaches and develops staff.
• Works collaboratively within Finance function, Supply Chain, Operations, etc.
• Performs additional ad hoc analyses as required from time-to-time.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting
• 8-10 years of relevant financial analysis experience
• Prior experience monitoring and reporting on inventory/COGS
• Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills
• Exceptional analytical and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA
• MBA
• Pharmacy or PBM industry experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Sage Intacct G/L and Power BI systems preferred.
• Collaborative style, can-do attitude and high intellectual curiosity preferred.
