Overview


This position is integral to the continued and planned future growth of the Company’s Cell Therapy Manufacturing Center and capabilities. The Director, Finance - Manufacturing & Supply Chain is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and planning, cost accounting (including cost of goods sold, bill of materials and inventory costing), and core accounting function at our internal manufacturing site and CMOs and will work with the manufacturing, supply chain and clinical development teams.  The Director provides reporting and analysis to the corporate finance and accounting team, including the SVP, Finance and CFO, to support the strategic and operational planning. The Associate Director Plant Controller will report into this role. The Director works with Corporate Accounting and Corporate FP&A teams to support the monthly close processes and quarterly external financial reporting as well as to assure strong linkage of data reported and budgeted results.  The Director will establish new policies and procedures as needed, ensure compliance with internal controls, work with other team members to develop scalable and efficient accounting processes and systems, and coordinate with external auditors.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities


  • Oversee monthly/quarterly close process for general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare & analyze financial statements for LLC entity.
  • Perform account reconciliation analysis, review journal entries and review accounting classifications, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of internal control structure and ensure compliance with established controls.
  • Assist Corporate Finance with all technical accounting and disclosures, including research and preparation of technical accounting memos.
  • Support any internal and external financial audits.
  • Design and develop systems, procedures, and policies for the cost accounting systems.
  • Work on development of Bill of Materials, standard costs to be used for raw materials inventories and COGS.
  • Oversee local PA accounting to support the KOZ status and applicable reporting.
  • Develop Budgets and forecasts for the Manufacturing operations & monitors results, actuals versus budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including all production areas including cost of sales, overhead and labor.
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
  • Ensure integrity of the Company’s accounting systems

Travel

  • Ability to travel on an as-needed basis to other worksites.


Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting with cost accounting focus, biopharmaceutical industry, CPA and Big 4 experience is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth cost accounting knowledge and experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial accounting
  • Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley controlled environment.
  • Prior biotech or pharmaceutical experience preferred.
  • NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Strong forecasting & analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate developed strategies and analysis clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to build partnerships across functions.
  • Detail oriented with insight to determine applicability of big picture.
  • Proactive problem solver, expected to present problems and recommendations.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to independently prioritize workload based on organizational needs/demands. Operates with a sense of urgency, as appropriate.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.

Work Environment


This job works in a professional office environment and a manufacturing lab setting. Potential exposure to latex, bleach, loud noise, lab equipment hazards, strong odors, and chemical/biochemical is possible.  Requires operating standard office equipment and keyboards.
