Job Description
Position: Cardiac Stress Testing Technician
Location: Rochester, NY
Overview: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Cardiac Stress Testing Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting cardiac stress tests, including exercise stress tests and pharmacological stress tests, to evaluate cardiac function and assess cardiovascular health. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform cardiac stress tests under the supervision of a physician or cardiologist.
- Prepare patients for stress testing procedures, including explaining the process and answering any questions or concerns.
- Monitor patients during stress testing procedures, including ECG monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, and symptom assessment.
- Administer pharmacological stress agents as directed by a physician.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of patients throughout the stress testing process.
- Recognize and respond to cardiac emergencies or adverse reactions during stress testing procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of stress testing procedures, including patient information, test results, and any adverse events.
- Calibrate and maintain stress testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating stress testing appointments.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in cardiovascular technology, exercise science, nursing, or a related field (preferred).
- Certification as a Cardiac Stress Testing Technician or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
- Previous experience performing cardiac stress tests and familiarity with stress testing equipment and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and computer skills.
- CPR certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
