General Summary of Duties: Operates radiologic equipment to make clinical diagnostic X-ray films as directed by physicians and perform routine diagnostic procedures. Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking x-rays following established procedures. Instructs patient regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during examination. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies. Maintains patient and office confidentiality.

- Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.
- Instructs patient regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during examination.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment on individual patient basis.
- Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
- Examines radiologic film for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion.
- Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
- Develops and processes radiologic film. Delivers film to radiologist for reading/interpretation.
- Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
Education: High school diploma or GED. Completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Experience: One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred. Computer experience required.
Certificate/License: Current certification (ARRT) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and Florida State licensure required.
