THE ROLE
Bartender

The Bartender is responsible for delivering excellence in guest service by developing relationships with guests, providing personalized service, anticipating and delivering guest’s needs. The Bartender comprehends the cocktail and beverage menus, prepares drinks as requested by our guests and serves food and drinks to our guests either directly or via service staff.


Responsibilities

  • Be fully accountable for the people, product and profit within the hotel.
  • Provide excellent, friendly, courteous and professional service to all internal and external guests, in every interaction.
  • Ensure hotel culture is enlivened in all aspects of the business.
  • Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness and safety of the work area/assigned station and the establishment.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure that all procedures concerning bar tabs and the transfer of tables are met.
  • Perform accurate cash/credit handling and POS procedures in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Up-sell food and beverage menu items.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of a variety of alcoholic beverages, must retain and maintain complete knowledge of all food and beverage menu items.
  • Check identification for proof of age when required.
  • Monitor guest’s drinks and anticipate guest’s needs.
  • Provide food service as appropriate.
  • Perform all necessary tasks for bar according to the standard operating procedure of the venue.
  • Efficiently and properly performs all service and sequence of service standards.
  • Set up and break down the bar area.
  • Maintain inventory at par levels.
  • Direct the work of Barbacks
  • Develop relationships with guests in order to provide personalized service.
  • Resolve guest complaints, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible.
  • Respond to guests’ requests in an accurate and timely manner, creating a positive outcome that will result in a memorable experience.
  • Proper handling of VIP’s, recognize repeat guests and protect their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Must be knowledgeable about hotel’s i.e. location, cuisine, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge about surroundings, i.e. nearby entertainment, theaters, etc.
  • Ensure that hotel reporting procedures are aligned with applicable SOP.
  • Ensure all hotel and restaurant policies, standards and local laws are followed.
  • Ensure sanitation fundamentals and Health Department requirements that are set forth by hotel, local, state and federal regulations are in compliance.
  • Maximizing revenue to hit budget targets.
  • Assists in hiring, training and mentoring staff.
  • Assists in monitoring of inventory, and ordering, making best possible pricing and purchasing decisions to meet financial targets.
  • Assists in beverage menu development.
  • Creates, maintains and engages in ongoing beverage education and materials for the team.
  • Leads by example in setting and enforcing quality, safety and customer service standards. Making sure to develop a positive, inclusive, and welcoming space.

  • Loves to make sure that staff and guests are smiling and laughing as much as possible, whenever possible.
  • Is passionate about all things food and beverage.

Requirements

  • Prior management experience overseeing a beverage program.
  • Advanced knowledge of beer, wine and spirits.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes.
  • Able to work nights and weekends.
  • Self-motivated, well organized, ability to motivate others.
