General Purpose of Job
The Staff Accountant is responsible for all accounting details and periodic reporting for the company and its North America divisions. This includes but is not limited to: preparation and review of budgets, financial planning, cash forecasting, financial systems, and various other financial operating reports.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Manage the General Ledger and all related ledgers
Prepare supporting schedules plus month-end journal entries and mid-month adjusting entries (as needed) for all North America divisions
Work with the Finance Manager in production of month-end internal financial statements
Bill customers and create invoices of non-inventory items
Run credit checks on potential customers and input new customer info in the system once approved
Ensure Accounts Receivable payments/cash receipts are applied correctly
Maintain customer and vendor information up to date
Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash
Create journal entries for payroll and month-end payroll accrual
Ensure that all Accounts Payable invoices (non-inventory) are coded to the proper general ledger expense account before entered into the system
Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documentation to perform annual audit
Supports the annual tax return and audit
Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, or a minimum of 2 years of GL experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Preferred experience with major ERP systems, specifically SAP
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in GAAP accounting and reporting
• Ability to read and analyze financial reports
