Mechanic Helper - Diesel

KASS Construction is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanic Helper. The Mechanic Helper will assist the Shop Mechanic in performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs to heavy equipment and heavy diesel trucks. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with diesel equipment and/or trucks, excellent communication skills, and possess a strong work ethic.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in performing maintenance activities for heavy vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to oil and filter changes, servicing of lubricant and fluid levels, tire inspection and changing tires, component wear inspection, and systems testing.

• Service vehicles and equipment as needed.
• Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required.
• Utilize a range of tools and equipment, including electronic and mechanical diagnostic equipment, tire changers, bench grinders, pressure washers, hoists, jacks, and a variety of hand and power tools.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by effectively performing housekeeping duties, including observing environmental and hazardous material procedures and following all safety procedures.
• Help maintain appropriate company records to document equipment maintenance, service and repairs.
• Help maintain inventory of parts or supplies such as oil, grease, and filters as well as any special tools or equipment needed to perform repairs.
• Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Mechanical Aptitude
• Prior experience working with diesel equipment and/or trucks
• General knowledge of safe, proper use of hand tools and power tools
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
• Effective communication and listening skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Must be legally authorized for employment in the United States

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects weight up to 75 pounds.
• Strength and dexterity to manipulate tools and equipment in confined spaces.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach in various positions.
• Tolerance for working in diverse environmental conditions, including temperature variations and exposure to grease, oil, and other automotive fluids.
• Ability to visually observe details at close range (within a few feet) and maintain visual attention for significant periods of time.
