Description of the School

St. Katharine of Siena Parish established its school in 1916; it presently enrolls 406 students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. St. Katharine of Siena was named a National Blue-Ribbon School of Excellence in 2020 as well as a School of Distinguished Instruction by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2021. The School was reaccredited by the Middle States Association in 2022. This Catholic community is dedicated to academic excellence and the development of future leaders to be disciples of Jesus Christ. St. Katharine of Siena School has a dedicated Board of Limited Jurisdiction, which helps provide support for the principal and pastor for the strategy and long term health of the school. The school has an active parent community highlighted by a strong Home and School Association which plans many events and fundraising initiatives throughout the year. Our school is defined by its mission: "Guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ, St. Katharine of Siena School is a vital part of St. Katharine of Siena parish community educating students in Kindergarten through eighth grade. We are committed to spiritual formation and academic excellence through an engaging and nurturing learning environment that seeks to develop every child, integrating our Catholic faith and its values of compassion, service, acceptance and respect for all of God's people while developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ."

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their expertise in curriculum implementation, team building, faculty development, parental engagement, promotion of Catholic faith formation, the use of technology in instruction, and effective elementary school management including exemplary communication and relationship-building skills. This opportunity is best suited for a forward-thinking individual with innovative ideas.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

A dynamic, Christ-centered leader is needed to serve as Principal of St. Katharine of Siena School. The new Principal must be a practicing Catholic in good standing in the Church with a strong commitment to Catholic Education and the teachings of the Church.

The ideal candidate will:

1) serve as the primary agent for creating an environment that fosters academic excellence, Catholic faith formation, vitality, and viability.

2) be responsible for creating a climate that encourages the engagement of each student in the learning process while fostering a love for learning

3) be forward thinking - have a vision for the future of education and a proven track record in achieving academic success.

4) inspire a committed faculty and an engaged student body to form highly effective learning community inclusive of all stakeholders in the ministry of Catholic education.

5) communicate effectively with parents, parish staff, and community.

6) leverage technology as a communication and education tool.

7) collaborate in the efforts to actively recruit and retain students and qualified teachers.

8) work with school and parish community to support school events, fundraising initiatives, and enrollment campaigns.

9) have a competent and proficient understanding of school operations including budget management.
