POSITION TITLE: Accounting Manager REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer COMPANY BACKGROUND: NEBF Investments is responsible for the management of The National Electrical Benefit Fund (NEBF) and The National Electrical Annuity Plan (NEAP) assets. This position is a shared resource between the two Plans and is located in Washington DC. NEBF is a Taft-Hartley, multiemployer defined benefit pension plan and is the second largest Taft-Hartley Pension Plan in the United States. NEAP is a multiemployer defined contribution money purchase plan that provides retirement and related benefits to employees in the electrical industry. QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s degree in accounting and/or Finance required. • Five years or more experience in a similar position; experience with accounting operations and preparing financial statement schedules. • Demonstrates creative and critical thinking skills; and ability to multitask. • Ability to work well with others, anticipate impacts of workload/issues to team deadlines and has a positive work attitude. • Proficient computer skills, Office 365. • Experience with Microsoft Business Central desirable but not required. SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and assist with the Plans’ accounting and financial reporting operations. The Accounting Manager position includes but is not limited to: - • Ensure accounts, ledgers and financial reports comply with GAAP and regulatory requirements. • Prepare, review, and approve financial statements, month-end entries and accounting package for accuracy and timely distribution to management. • Coordinate with external auditors and NEBF administrative office, respond to audit inquiries and ensure timeliness of year end audit deliverables. This includes, investment lead/roll forward, fair value hierarchy, and supporting footnote disclosure schedules. • Prepare year-end reporting schedules used to complete Form 5500 financial disclosure requirements tax filings and payments remitted to Federal, State, and Local taxing authorities. • Prepare mid-year unaudited financial statements to satisfy debt covenant requirements. • Prepare financial reporting schedules and responses to Department of Labor (“DOL”) inquiries, as needed. • Assist with the annual budget forecasting of costs incurred by the investment office, which includes preparing budget to actual variance analyses and providing explanations for significant variances. • Assist with federal and state filing of unrelated business income tax (“UBIT”) forms (i.e., 990-T) prepared by the Plans’ tax advisor, including the payment of taxes due. Ensure compliance with business filings required by local government. • Recommend and implement improvements for Accounting current best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy. • Review and update Accounting/Finance SOPs to clarify roles and responsibilities, coordinate with the COO to ensure a balanced separation of duties. • Lead team members to develop skills and increase their knowledge base; strengthen internal communications with staff; promote process efficiency and accuracy across functions. • Assist with the implementation of new business technologies and software as needed. • Ad-hoc projects as assigned by the senior leadership team.
