Investment Operation Associate

Key Accountabilities:

The primary functions of the Investment Operations Associate can be categorized into the following areas: reporting, cash management, trade settlement, new account onboarding, new investments, technology, and audit. Key partners will include Investment Accounting, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal and Treasury Operations.

Reporting

• Generate internal management and subsidiary reporting for investment portfolios, including

• preparation of materials to the Investment Committees and Board of Directors.

• Reconcile portfolio holdings with Investment Accounting reporting on a quarterly basis

• Run data integrity checks on investment portfolio data for each reporting cycle.

• Provide monthly and quarterly investment results to Investments team.

• Run quarterly compliance validation reports for entities and clients.

• Assist accounting group with investment related disclosures.

Cash Management

• Keep track of all fund flows (e.g. capital calls / distributions) and provide weekly report to team.

• Communicate with asset managers to raise cash, as needed.

• Coordinate with Treasury for cash transfers between required accounts.

• Report weekly portfolio cash balances and assist Regional CIO in ensuring optimal cash positioning.

Trade Settlement

• Coordinate with brokers on trade confirms.

• Work with the custodian to ensure trade is matched with counterparty.

• Ensure all trades settle as intended in a timely fashion.

• Work with custodians and counterparties to transfer securities between accounts and legal entities.

New Account Onboarding

• Work closely with Regional CIO to onboard new reinsurance transactions / acquisitions.

• Liaise with external banks in opening custody and other required accounts for new investments.

• Assist in operational requirements in closing of acquisitions.

New Investments

• Complete subscription documents for new fund commitments across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions

• Coordinate with the Alternatives team and Legal team on specifics of each investment

• Ensure that new investments are set up and reflected in the investment systems as intended.

Technology

• Review and validate investments-related data across multiple systems: Clearwater, Bloomberg, and BNY's NEXEN.

• Assist in system vendor assessment.

Audit

• Assist with data and document gathering for internal and external audits.

Experience:

• 2-6 years minimum experience in investment operations and reporting at an insurance company, or asset manager

Knowledge:

• In depth knowledge of an investment function, particularly control environment

• Familiarity with Fixed Income and Alternative asset classes

• Understanding of insurance/reinsurance reporting and regulatory requirements

• Experience within investment companies or investment departments, particularly in reporting and operations areas

• Experience with building financial models on Excel

General Skills / Attributes:

• Excellent Excel, PPT, Word and Bloomberg skills

• Familiarity with ClearWater and BNY NEXEN

• Ability to manipulate large data sets and convert them into actionable insights via Excel and/or business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, etc).

• Ability to develop new asset portfolio / investment results exhibits in a way that is easily digestible for senior management and decision-makers.

• Good communication skills, strong collaborator with other functional areas.
