Job Description

Summary

The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teacher Assistant observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teacher Assistant are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

Duties

Assist the lead teacher in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes learning, creativity, and social-emotional development.
Support the lead teacher in planning and leading engaging and educational activities, including circle time, story time, art, music, and outdoor play.
Foster positive relationships with children, providing encouragement, support, and guidance as needed.
Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance, ensuring a safe and respectful learning environment for all children.
Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
Assist with observing and assessing each child's progress and development, maintaining accurate records and documentation as needed.
Support the lead teacher in communicating with parents/guardians, providing updates on their child's learning and development.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Assist with daily tasks and responsibilities, including snack time, nap time, and transitions between activities.
Assist with cleaning of classrooms, restrooms, kitchen, playgrounds, and center grounds.
Demonstrate a commitment to the center's mission, values, and policies, upholding high standards of professionalism and ethics.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Tuberculosis (TB) test within the year of applying or must be able to get one upon hiring
Fingerprint Clearance Card
High energy.
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing demeanor when working with children
Ability to work well with others.
Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
An understanding of child development.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
