Overview:

We are currently seeking a motivated and entry-level Civil Engineer to join our team at an engineering firm serving municipalities and private clients in the Chicago area. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a Civil Engineering degree to gain valuable experience in a variety of civil engineering projects, including water distribution, sewer improvements, roadway enhancements, and stormwater management. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in civil engineering and a desire to pursue their Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

Responsibilities:

Project Support: Assist project managers and senior engineers in the planning, design, and implementation of civil engineering projects related to water distribution, storm and sanitary sewer improvements, roadway enhancements, and stormwater management.

Engineering Design: Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and design tasks under the guidance of senior staff. Prepare engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and cost estimates using AutoCAD and other design software.

Field Investigations: Conduct site visits, field surveys, and assessments to gather data and information for project planning and design. Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to infrastructure conditions, site constraints, and regulatory requirements.

Permitting and Approvals: Assist in the preparation of permit applications, regulatory compliance documents, and environmental assessments for civil engineering projects. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.

Construction Support: Provide support during the construction phase of projects, including review of contractor submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and conducting field inspections. Assist in resolving construction-related issues and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of project activities, including meeting minutes, correspondence, and project documentation. Prepare reports, presentations, and other deliverables for clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program required.

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Strong academic background in civil engineering fundamentals, including fluid mechanics, hydraulics, structural analysis, and geotechnical engineering.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering software tools preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities to meet project deadlines.
