ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The Software/Hardware position has been created to fulfill the need for a Software Research and Development Engineer at Boon Edam Americas. This position will include support of engineering and cross functional teams on a daily basis. Production activities will also be supported by this position as needed. A positive attitude and approachability are a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design microcontroller based PBC’s as required following UL standards and best practices.
• Proficiency in Java, C/C++ and object-oriented design skills.
• Collaborate with Boon Edam International software/hardware developers regarding designs and compliance.
• Experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, from conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, testing and life maintenance.
• Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Ability to develop documentation, flow charts, layouts, block diagrams, code comments etc.
• Ability to develop software solutions by studying project scope needs, conferring with cross functional teams as needed, referencing data sheets and standards.
• Protects Boon Edam intellectual property by keeping information confidential.
• Assist Electrical R&D Team in projects from release through launch as needed, providing engineering support in an organized and on-time fashion. Maintain detailed records of the project work.
• Assist Electrical R&D Team in assembling prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
• Assist Electrical R&D Team in the set up and operating of test equipment to evaluate quality, performance and reliability, under simulated operating conditions.
• Support sales and marketing activities by responding to customer requests, helping train people and ensuring all technical information is accurate and up-to-date.
• Develop and perform DVRPs on a project needed basis.
• Support Supply Chain group in spec’ing components, EoL issues, technical decisions.
• Support production activities as required (floor support, PCO activities, etc).
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum process flow is a plus.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to think in terms of “systems” and work creatively to improve them
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and actively contribute to the success of the team
• Knowledge of ANSI, EN17352 & UL is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, organization and project documentation skills
