Job Description

Commercial Plastics seeks full-time Material Handlers on 2nd and 3rd Shift for our manufacturing facility in Waverly, NE. We are experiencing a tremendous amount of growth in our Waverly, NE Facility. We are an injection molding company that services the Food, Consumer Goods, Dispensers, and Appliance industries. 2nd Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 4pm-12am

3rd Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 12am-8am

Essential duties and responsibilities can include, but are not limited to, tending injection molding machines by performing the following duties.

Machine Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining constant supply of materials, colorants, and boxing to the production floor. Maintain proper mix ratios
  • Reading checklist and work orders of job specifications to determine proper utilization of material and labeling finished goods
  • Preparing and position support equipment and raw material
  • Cleaning grinders, barrels and hopper loaders following established operation procedures
  • Performing minor maintenance to support equipment
  • Assisting technicians in mold setups

Production Responsibilities:

  • Understanding machine operation and identification of defective workpiece or machine malfunction to act as a backup to operators
  • Inspecting and measuring machined product to verify conformance to specifications
  • Record production and raw material usage accurately in inventory software
  • Stack, mark, pack, and/or transport finished workpieces according to work orders

General Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in Company’s Quality Management System
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment following safety procedures and policies
  • Actively communicate with all team members as needed
  • Complying with work requirements related to attendance and notice of absence, general conduct and following work instructions
  • Monitoring and communicating material needed to support normal production activity

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Mechanical experience is required
  • Plastics processing experience is preferred

Required Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Required Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Required Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; sit; and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee is required to wear safety shoes, eye and hearing protection.
