Coatings Lab Technician

Works with lab samples and/or performs tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics of paint for the purpose of product development and problem resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Compounds, tests and adjusts small batches of paint under the direction of senior laboratory personnel.
• Paints parts/plaques/panels to be used for testing and/or demonstration purposes.
• Conducts specification testing and complaint investigation work as directed by senior laboratory personnel.
• Professionally documents work utilizing Laboratory Notebooks and the LR system.
• Maintains, operates and calibrates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, pH meters, viscometer, chemical balance scales, colorimeter, and other equipment.
• Controls R&D inventory of raw materials, ensuring that proper labeling standards are maintained.
• Assists in maintaining a professional, organized laboratory by keeping all lab equipment, fixtures and common work areas clean and orderly.
