Job Description

Our Deli isn't your typical Deli, we are located in the Hilton Garden Inn San Diego Del Mar, and you will be a part of our hotel team providing guest service as well as delicious sandwiches! We have FT and PT shifts available and the NY Deli is open from 7am - 1pm 7 days per week.

Job Summary: As a deli attendant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality service to customers while handling various deli products. Your duties will include food preparation, customer assistance, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food safety standards are met. We have FT and PT shifts. The Deli is open from 7am - 1pm 7 days per week.

Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation: Slice, cut, and prepare a wide range of deli products, including meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches, ensuring precision and quality in presentation.
  2. Customer Service: Greet customers with a friendly demeanor, offer assistance, and help them with their deli orders. Provide product recommendations, answer questions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  3. Food Display: Arrange deli products attractively in display cases, maintaining proper labeling and pricing. Keep the area well-stocked and visually appealing to attract customers.
  4. Cash Handling: Operate the cash register to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently. Handle cash, credit, and debit payments while maintaining cash register accountability.
  5. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of deli products, restock shelves as needed, and notify supervisors or managers when items are running low. Keep track of expiration dates and rotate products accordingly.
  6. Knowledge of Products: Stay informed about the deli's product offerings, including ingredients, nutritional information, and allergens. Be prepared to assist customers with specific dietary requirements.
  7. Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment at all times. Regularly clean workstations, equipment, and display cases following health and safety regulations.
  8. Compliance: Adhere to all food safety and health regulations, ensuring proper food handling, storage, and hygiene practices.
  9. Weighing and Packaging: Weigh and package deli products accurately, following standard procedures for portioning and packaging.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a deli, food service, or customer service role is preferred but not always required.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in food preparation and packaging.
  • Flexibility in working schedules, including weekends and holidays.
