Job description

For 53 years NOC has led the outdoor industry, taken more guests whitewater rafting and taught more paddlers than any other outdoor recreation company. NOC also provides top-quality aerial and trail-based adventures, wilderness medicine as well as unmatched retail service, foodservice, lodging, and trip planning services. 

Job Summary

The Retail Shift Supervisor will assist the Store Manager by overseeing daily operations on the sales floor and providing leadership to our Retail Sales Associates at our Grove Park Inn store location. This position will provide our guests with an extraordinary customer experience by sharing their passion for the activities and products that the NOC promotes. 

Part-Time Year-Round Position

Responsibilities

 Oversee floor operations during shifts

  • Provide solutions for any staff or guest questions
  • Complete all daily communication and tasks that support sales floor operations
  • Responsible for accurate completion of opening/closing duties as outlined by management


 Outline the schedule for the day

  • Assign and delegate work assignments/projects to floor staff
  • Coordinate breaks to maintain proper floor coverage
  • Deliver a clear and cohesive plan for retail associates each day


 Stocking and cleaning

  • Maintain a well-stocked floor
  • Work alongside staff to ensure a tidy and presentable store
  • Assist with visual merchandising, stocking the sales floor, and other relevant projects, as well as delegating these tasks to sales team members


 Ensure a positive guest experience

  • Embrace a high standard for guest service
  • Ensure the guest is always the number one priority
  • Provide mediation to guests or staff when necessary
  • Make certain all staff are handling guests appropriately


 Training and Communication

  • Provide consistent feedback to staff and management
  • Keep lines of communication open with management and fellow staff members
  • Take leadership in developing staff customer service skills and product knowledge


Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Prior supervisory experience in a retail setting 
  • Cash handling experience 
  • Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about outdoor recreational opportunities in the Asheville and larger western North Carolina area that the NOC promotes
  • Knowledgeable about the brands and products that the NOC promotes and sells
  • Knowledge of Lightspeed retail POS system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Technological literacy

 Physical requirements and working environment:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and stairs 
  • Ability to stoop, bend, twist
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must speak clearly and concisely 
  • Comfortable working in a guest-facing position
