The Oregon Convention Center is one of the largest convention facilities in the Pacific Northwest, attracting out-of-town visitors to national conventions, tradeshows and meetings, and local people to special events. The convention center’s roughly 160 employees host more than 1 million visitors each year.

The Oregon Convention Center is looking for a Parking and Dock Coordinator. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a direct contribution in coordinating the Parking and Loading Dock experience. You will greet and coordinate the use of services for vendors, decorators, staff, and clients. Working with a team of talented and diverse individuals who are all focused on creating a welcoming environment for everyone visiting the Convention Center.

Minimum qualifications:

This position is eligible for overtime and is represented by AFSCME 3580. It is classified as an Administrative Specialist I. Classification descriptions are typically written broadly and do not include the specific duties and responsibilities of the positions.

The Oregon Convention Center is looking for a Parking and Dock Coordinator. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a direct contribution in coordinating the Parking and Loading Dock experience. You will greet and coordinate the use of services for vendors, decorators, staff, and clients. Working with a team of talented and diverse individuals who are all focused on creating a welcoming environment for everyone visiting the Convention Center.
Standard Working Shifts:
- Saturday & Sunday 2:30 pm -11:30 pm
- Monday – Friday based upon event needs.
- Use an automated system to create badges for visitors, contractors, and decorators
- Maintain parking database, create client parking passes, and enter new hire credentials
- Check in dock staff for shifts and issue equipment
- Report misuse of the loading dock and parking services
- Operates a variety of office equipment including calculators, copy machines, fax machines, printers, scanners, and a computer to complete work.
- Prepares and maintains various reports, records, and systems. Maintains electronic and manual files and record-keeping systems; files and retrieves documents as necessary.
- Performs receptionist duties. Screens callers and visitors and directs to the appropriate staff member or department.
- Acts as a departmental contact or resource to communicate, exchange, correct, or verify information for the public and other Metro staff members. Responds to inquiries from the public regarding Metro services and programs.
- Performs data entry and retrieval using various computer software.
- Inputs processes and reconciles miscellaneous correspondence and reports using the computer.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Is passionate about providing excellent public service in a team environment.
- Enjoys problem-solving and collaborating.
- Appreciates the hustle and bustle of a busy event venue.
- Able to maintain composure while multitasking.

- High School Diploma or GED; AND
- One year of general office and specialized customer service and problem-solving experience; OR
- We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

- Previous parking or loading dock experience
- Intermediate computer skills
- Work history that includes customer-facing experience
