Summary

The Audio Visual Technician (“AVT”) provides or assists others in providing the Audio Visual equipment (“AV”) and technical support (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Services”) requested by ITA clients for their meetings and special events whenever and wherever need be. This is a hands-on position that requires the AVT to be self-motivated, professional and technically proficient in his/her work assignment at all times. The AVT strives to continuously learn and master new technology and does whatever is needed to ensure the Services provided are flawless and to achieve customer satisfaction.

AVT Duties & Responsibilities

The following encompasses and varies depending upon AVT level (I, II, III)

  • Warehouse duties including, but not limited to, general maintenance, assembling AV for work orders, loading and unloading trucks, delivery and pick-up.
  • Assist others with the setup and removal of AV.
  • Tape down and organize loose wiring and cable.
  • Ensures all AV is clean and fully operational.
  • Labels damaged or broken AV and communicates AV problems to manager/supervisor.
  • Set-up, operate and troubleshoot all AV/projection/lighting/conferencing equipment, devices, and systems.
  • Provide or oversee the provision of Services for meetings and special events.
  • Takes ownership of client interactions at events and ensures satisfaction
  • Communicates AV added, not used or “cancelled” by clients OTJ to manager/supervisor.
  • Assist and instruct clients regarding proper usage and operation of AV.
  • Monitor AV operation at appropriate intervals during meetings and special events.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors to affect repairs and/or maintain AV before, during and after use.
  • Engage with external suppliers.
  • Assist sales in identifying Services needed and gathering venue specific information for upcoming meetings and special events.
  • Collaborates with others or conceives and presents ways to improve Services, meetings and special events.
  • Specifying the appropriate Services to execute client meetings and special events.
  • Research new AV technology and recommend purchases to management
  • Train and support workplace associates to become proficient using AV technology.
  • The AVT must be willing or able to flex work hours to attend and support events outside of normal business hours.
  • And, of course, all other duties and responsibilities assigned AVT


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or technical school required.

Not less than 2 years’ combined education and experience working in live meeting and special events (corporate AV). Related experience (i.e. studio/sports/live music) is applicable.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects tolls, or controls, and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stop, kneel, crouch and crawl. From time to time, the employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 lbs; frequently (less than 20% of the time) lift and/or move 100 lbs. Additional physical job requirements:

  1. Must be able to repeatedly lift and move objects weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
  2. Must be able to regularly use & work safely on ladders at heights of 12-16’.
  3. Must be able to safely operate company owned and leased vehicles, or own on company time.
  4. Crawl, kneel, able to get off floor, without assistance.
  5. Able to read instructions, computer screen – may use corrective lenses.
  6. Climb stairs, walk without assistance.
  7. Able to work under tables, desks, racks and other confined spaces without assistance.
  8. Able to operate power tools safely.
