JOB TITLE: Sewing Machine Operator

REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor - Safety

SALARY RANGE: $20-23 / Hour

OVERVIEW

Pelsue is the industry leader in manufacturing worker safety products and vehicles for the telephone, utility and construction industries. We have a large sew shop in our Aurora facility where we build industrial tents to protect field workers from the weather. We have an immediate need for a commercial sew machine operator

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Know how to operate and maintain sewing machines and related parts, including needles, presser feet, automatic cutting tools and blades.
• Adjust machines and materials to match, including selecting fabric, thread and

needles, mounting necessary attachments and double-checking settings before beginning a large run.

• Attach elastic, cord, zippers, hooks and other trimmings to sewn pieces according to work order instructions and diagrams.

• Troubleshoot basic sew machine problems and request assistance with repairs when needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in our tent shop which is in a well-lit and well-ventilated warehouse.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee will be seated for much of their shift. Ability to lift 50 lbs.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work while onsite are Monday through Thursday 6:30am to 5:00pm.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

No education requirements for this position. Industrial sewing experience preferred but will train candidates that do not have experience.
