Position Summary: The OSP Team Lead plays a vital role in the OSP fiber team by facilitating the construction of a Fiber-to-the-Home network build within our Mid-West region. The OSP Team Lead will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for all OSP fiber construction in the market. The OSP Team Lead will coordinate with facilities, OSP, network operations, and finance to ensure successful project completion and will be required to ensure safety and quality control is maintained on all the builds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe environment and ensure all safety standards are met.
  • Oversee construction field operations with supervision and oversight of in-house crews, subcontractors, and inspection activities.
  • Working for the General Manager, the Fiber Team Lead will coordinate and schedule field activities and resources to complete the scope of work.
  • Must have the ability to forecast construction start and completion dates as well as identify issues that will cause delays. The candidate will report issues or challenges to the General Manager and department heads as well as recommend solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Directly responsible for the overall success of construction projects including meeting project schedules and budget. Strong construction management, reporting, and budgeting skills will be a must.
  • Demonstrated attention to quality construction practices and ensuring timely closeout and delivery of the project schedule.
  • Cross-team management with other departments and entities will be needed to ensure the timely build schedule.
  • Prioritize and multitask projects and see them through to completion, as individual and team contributor.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams including OSP, NetOps, Sales, Management, & Customer Service in coordinating all project activities, resource requirements and business goals.
  • Work with and communicate progress to internal stakeholders and ensure that projects are scoped properly and handed off seamlessly for network deployment.
  • Handle daily updates and feedback required for troubleshooting and internal ticketing system.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Knowledge of network drawings, route maps and scopes of work.
  • Experience in operational improvement, process/workflow development with excellent analytical, financial skills and communication skills.
  • Experience interpreting fiber test results and auditing projects for compliance with scopes of work.
  • A deep understanding of outside plant fiber optic network infrastructure, engineering design and construction.
  • Knowledge/experience with project management tools. Knowledge of FTTH Infrastructure, MDU design, materials.
  • Work cross-functionally to design and build scalable construction, installation, and support processes.

Must hold a valid driver’s license, Class A CDL with current medical card is preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Telecommunications or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience with fiber network deployments, including a deep understanding of constructing outside plant fiber infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing teams with responsibility for quality assurance, schedule commitments, and troubleshooting.
