Job Description

Job Summary:

Lead Pharmacy Technician responsibilities may include the following: overseeing the provision of excellent customer service and for the accurate and timely billing of compounded preparations based off patient specific prescriptions, performing fulfillment of data entry and prescription processing, and/or assisting and supporting laboratory technicians in prescription compounding and fulfillment activities, ongoing training and uptraining of front end staff (shipping clerks, tech-trainees, certified pharmacy technicians), oversight and responsibility for all front end pharmacy operations.

  • Technicians may be first point of contact for customers, so it is very important that customers are greeted and assisted in a friendly and professional manner
  • Checking prescriptions for completeness and entering necessary information into the computer to generate a prescription label and invoices (if necessary)
  • Filling and labeling prescriptions and prepackaging bulk medications and various types of medication and ancillary kits
  • Communicating with prescribers to receive refill authorization receiving patient refills by telephone, directing calls or taking and relaying messages
  • Receives patient refills and payments by telephone, directing calls or taking and relaying messages
  • Assisting team lead with organization and appearance of the pharmacy front-end, ordering and pricing front-end merchandise.
  • Lead technician shall train staff, delegate tasks and responsibilities to other non-compounding technician
  • Gain team buy-in by getting team input, reaffirming ideas provided, and providing feedback
  • Resolve internal and external conflict based on company and supervisor standard
  • Technician shall work under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Maintaining an organized and efficient workspace
  • Investigating an incidence and/or variance as needed, documenting variances as needed including the resolution
  • Assists and takes responsibility quality assurance/quality control efforts as needed per SOP in coordination with Designated Person.
  • Operates and uses appropriate techniques within systems for storage, preparation and dispensing of medicinal agents
  • Follows the healthcare centers policies regarding medication preparation, labeling, and controlled substances reconciliation
  • Helps maintain orderly, clean environment in the Pharmacy, including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies
  • To build and maintain a positive work atmosphere with the pharmacy staff

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Certified Technician is required
  • Excellent work ethic, including a personal drive to excel independently.
  • Average PC skills including Microsoft software
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Must be licensed a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state in which you are applying
