Staff Accountant

Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in the search for a Staff Accountant with our client located in Schaumburg, IL. Our client is a well-established organization who specializes in providing high quality wallcoverings and interior design solutions. They recently had an individual have to resign due to personal reasons, and they are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their team on a contract to hire basis. This Staff Accountant would be primarily responsible for handling journal entries, account reconciliations, and assisting with generating financial statements. The Staff Accountant would be reporting directly to the VP of Finance and would ideally be able to interview and start shortly after.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of the Financial statements and review for accuracy
• Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts
• Prepare journal entries, analysis, and account reconciliations
• Assist with monthly close process
• Contribute to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
• Review current accounting procedures and make recommendations to improve the process
• Have familiarity with sales taxes and review returns as well as reconcile to General Ledger
• File Unclaimed property Reports according to State Guidelines
• Reconcile monthly Bank statements
• Prepare schedules requested by external auditors 

Staff Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Excel proficiency (v-look ups and pivot tables)
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
