Shipping Supervisor

Hubbard Supplyhouse is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our family-like atmosphere. We are a plumbing, lighting, and irrigation distributor that assists local builders, plumbers, and homeowners in the creation of beautiful living spaces with kitchen and bath fixtures, as well as residential and commercial lighting. The ideal candidate will have previous warehouse shipping experience, enjoys working with others to help direct their vision into a reality, and excels in a "team first" work environment.

The Shipping Supervisor will increase operational efficiency, company profitability and customer satisfaction by overseeing safe, accurate and timely processing of outgoing shipments and deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Schedules delivery and distribution of products and materials.
• Forecasts peak delivery periods and issues appropriate work assignments.
• Provides shipping instructions and routing information; confirms and coordinates delivery times and locations.
• Establishes warehouse safety and security programs and training activities.
• Schedules drivers for pick-up and delivery; selects most efficient routes for each driver.
• Oversees equipment availability; assigns drivers, trucks, and extra drivers when needed.
• Consolidates orders into truckloads for specific destinations.
• Anticipates weather complications along routes and at the drivers' destinations; communicates delays and route changes as necessary.
• Maintains radio and/or phone contact with drivers; receives and dispatches response and emergency aid when needed.
• Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments.
• Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets.
• Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
• Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.

• Basic understanding of geographical area and mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing.
• Proficient with or able to quickly learn dispatch and record keeping systems.
• Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure.
• Thorough understanding of shipping industry.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred.
• At least three years of related experience and execution of similar duties in warehouse/freight operations required.
