RIC is a growing Midwest based consulting, civil engineering, land planning, surveying, construction services, and landscape architecture firm that brings innovation and expertise to public and private infrastructure projects. Since our inception in 2010, we have established strong working relationships with a variety of clients in the industry including government agencies, railroads, developers, architects, contractors, and engineers. The RIC team is comprised of 26 licensed professionals with over 300 years combined experience, who are supported by a committed and talented group of over 50 technical and administrative staff.

RIC is seeking a talented field survey manager with a strong knowledge of the survey and engineering industry to join our team. A qualified candidate must be able to work as part of a team, be dependable, have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting our team of engineers, survey managers and survey technicians in the planning, scheduling, and performance of multiple boundary and topographical survey projects. In addition, this position is responsible for supervision, resource management, and accountability for the results of the team’s work outcomes. Candidates should be able to apply sound survey principles in planning, evaluation and completing survey projects as well as approving field measurements and directing and assisting with the preparation of survey documents. Primary Responsibilities

  • Training of field crews in the use of surveying equipment, proper survey methods, techniques for collecting and analyzing data and applicable state laws.
  • Planning and directing field work, creating packets of project information for assignment to field crews.
  • Conducting field checks to verify and spot check field survey work.
  • Periodically conducting survey field work to help support crew workload.
  • Scheduling, documenting, and/or coordinating utility locates.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders reporting on field survey schedule progress and outcomes of work.
  • Assist with assembling property information under the supervision of the Director of Survey.
  • Possessing basic CAD skills to view & edit drawings.
  • Abide by all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in surveying with a variety of survey work experience including, boundary topographic survey experience
  • Basic AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying/resolving land survey and property ownership issues by utilizing land surveying principles and applying state statutes and regulations pertaining to land surveying and property.
  • Proficient with surveying equipment and software
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Solid math skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Federal survey experience a plus.
  • Work effectively and professionally with internal team members and external client personnel.
  • Strong organization, time, and project management skills.
  • Detail-oriented and initiative-taking.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple teams.
  • Ability to prioritize project deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Willingness to work in the office and out in the field when needed.
  • Strong safety focus.
  • Ability to travel to and from job sites.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the day.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registration as a Kansas or Missouri LSIT required.
  • Registration as a PLS in Kansas and/or Missouri desired.
